I read it as "Specifically designed for refrigerator models with metal liners"....but it doesn't say it can't be used on OTHER models. And it fits perfectly in the space in the dispenser..like it was MADE for it! Imagine THAT!

Got them ok....had a peek and that's all the time I've had lately....I see it says for metal liner refrigerator only.

Ok so I have performed the repair. The heat tape is peel and stick. AND I took some pictures of me doing it...well actually I took it back apart and shot them after the fact when I remembered but I think you'll get the idea. I have a copy of the instruction sheet that came with the part too. I'd like to get them uploaded but wondered if you might like the pics and instruction sheet pics for your site? I was thinking I'd just email them to you. What would you like my friend?

I think that is why they call it a "dispenser" tube heater.....

I am guessing that they figure the tube only freezes up near the dispensor then?!?!

Worth a try for sure. Definetly check the freezer temp before doing anything!

Got nowhere with that number.

*So far* a frozen water line in the freezer door has been:
- too cold in the freezer ( sub zero temps )
- water line installed incorectly and is too close to the inner door panal ( requires new door )

While at a customers performing some other services and him being aware of my service tech background I found myself after some investigation, looking at a water line frozen inside the freezer door. I was able to get it defrosted by the skillful although wet application of some warm water introduced into the line.
For a couple of weeks it worked anyway...so I'm online doing a search about it and I find a few posts about it. Several recommend a heater kit , part number WR49X101173...
