Posts: 9 Feb 17 09 8:13 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Tags : None Washing machine fills with water and does nothing. You can hear the motor running, but there is no agitation. Washer does not spin during the spin cycle. It drains the water out of the tub. The belt was shredded pretty good so I replaced the belt, but the results are the same. What else do I need to check? Also the belt seems a little loose.

It is a cloth belt and slips to act like a clutch. but the results are the same. What else do I need to check? Also the belt seems a little loose Belt might be around the pulleys wrong, idler pulley may not be keeping tension on the belt... Make sure the idler pulley turns freely and the spring is in tact. Posts: 9 Feb 17 09 11:02 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I replaced the belt with the original that was on the machine, Goodyear 37820. I did notice that the tension on the idler wasn't optimal. When I manually forced it to the left, it created more tension. The idler spring appears to be lacking tension and I'll need to replace that. The belt is on correctly, but I noticed when I pull on the belt at some points it creates tensions and at other points it is loose. Do you think the slack in the belt is the root cause of the lack of agitation and spinning?

If the motor runs ok in both modes but the belt isn't moving, that is a good possibility for sure. The idler spring appears to be lacking tension and I'll need to replace that Probably a good idea. jeff.

Agitator shouldn't spin, it should agitate back and forth. Motor runs in one direction to agitate and in the other/opposite direction for spin. Turning the belt by hand can cause the agitator or spin to work as a test. jeff.

I have the washing machine disassembled down to the tub and the motor is still attached below it. As I'm turning the tub upside down to access the belt/motor/pulley area, I hear water. Even turned upside down, the water doesn't come out. Does this make sense? I do have a leakage problem with the machine as well. I've removed the pump and I still hear the water.
