I NEVER make a substitution unless I see it in print from the factory that this is the case, or I can verify that electrically they would be the same.

I have an older Pontiac Trans Am. The antenna relay from a Chevrolet Camaro is a different part #. However, ELECTRICALLY they are identical. The difference is in the mounting bracket. Since it's behind the dash, it won't be seen and detract from the value of the car.

However, had they not been electrically the same, I wouldn't use it.

The appliance guy by me told me he had "similar" springs to the 1790236 Maytag oven door springs I wanted (and the parts list calls for on my machine).

Guess which ones I put in? (as the stove has to come out of the wall to do it right).

Yup, you guessed. While it may work fine, I would have gone with the correct OEM service part required for your model. Always a safe bet, as Jeff stated.

When the correct parts are obsolete, then you can experiment if you will.
