Hello;
I have a MAGIC CHEF dryer Model # CYG30041WW. The other day it would not heat. I called my brother-in-law who is good at fixing things.
He said the ignitor was bad and replaced it with Maytag part
#304970.
I noticed that the old part and the new part looked different. So, I did a little research. I found out that my brother-in-law used a different part than what was called for. I found out that my old part was part # 31001556 (2.5amps - 3.0 amps). The new part #304970 has a slightly different amps (3.2 amps - 3.6amps).
The dryer works fine. I am just wondering if using a different part will cause the solenoid coils or other parts to fail quicker?
I asked my brother-in-law about this; and he said that he has done this before and the dryer worked for years and is still working fine. He also told me that part # 31001556 cost double what part #304970 cost.
What do you think about this? Will I have trouble down the line because of this?
Appreciate your help.
