What would you look at first? Is there an ejector cycle that I can reset? If a little sediment got dislodged and is now partially blocking the flow, where is the most likely place to look?
Thanx.

Ejector cycle all screwy |

I sure hope you can more help than customer service at Amana. We have an Amana IC6 ice maker that we installed some 8-10 years ago in an Amana "R"
series bottom freezer and it worked great until we redid the kitchen floor. The fridge was off and empty for a week and then I put it back in place and
reattached the water line. Now the ejector cycle doesn't seem to be in sync with the ice making. Some of the ice cubes are hollow and a couple of the
fingers on the ejector always end up with globs of ice attached to them so they jam in the slots and makes a groaning noise until I chip the ice off.

Hi,
Amana "R" series bottom freezerAbove is not a model#. Some of the ice cubes are hollow and a couple of the fingers on the ejector always end up with globs of ice attached to them so they jam in the slots and makes a groaning noise until I chip the ice off.Hollow cubes is often an indication of a poor/low pressure water fills. http://www.applianceaid.com/icemaker.html#hollow Is there an ejector cycle that I can reset?Nope. What would you look at first? If a little sediment got dislodged and is now partially blocking the flow, where is the most likely place to look?Fill valve entrance, kinked line, filter ( if used ). |

Sorry Jeff, didn't think the fridge model # was important. It's a BX20RW.
No kinks in the line. When you say fill valve entrance, do you mean on the icemaker or the back of the fridge? The ejector always seems to be in motion and is maybe kicking the cubes out too early(?) I thought it had a rest period and that's why I asked about resetting a cycle but maybe it just ran quietly before. It does seem to form solid cubes if the ejector is jammed long enough. BTW Freezer temp is 2 degrees F. |

BX20RWFound... BX20RW-P1161503WW BX20RW-P1161506WW Neither came with an icemaker from the factory, so this must be an add on icemaker. When you say fill valve entrance, do you mean on the icemaker or the back of the fridge?Nope. Older fill valves ( example ) had an entrance screen filter built into the fill valve, newer fill valve don't come apart. The ejector always seems to be in motion and is maybe kicking the cubes out too early(?) I thought it had a rest period and that's why I asked about resetting a cycle but maybe it just ran quietly beforeToo little of water ( low pressure fills ) often allows the icemaker mold body to get too cold too quickly and the icemaker comes back on too soon and the ejector arms start to turn too soon. Most module style icemaker fill with approx 130 to 150 cc ( 4.5 to 5.0 oz ) of water. Failing that an internal fault in the icemaker may be our problem. jeff. |

Thanks, I'll try again to make sure the flow is there.

Measure water flow, can even try to manually fill yourself to see how the icemaker reacts.

Just as a follow-up, I finally pulled the fridge back out and took apart the entrance valve as you recommended. Found it had slimed-over during it's week
long break. After a thorough cleaning and reassembly the icemaker seems to be back in business. Thanks for the help.
