hi, i've got a kenmore 970-c290420-00 (canadian model) made by frigidaire. the machine has stopped turning the load to wash or spin dry. the pump works
to drain the water. i removed the rear panel, and the belt seems in find condition. i removed the belt and ran the machine and no action from the motor.
what to do?? to determine what to fix? thanks rob |

Hi,
970-c290420-00Many Canadian model#'s ( esp dept store brands ) are not online. i removed the belt and ran the machine and no action from the motor. There is an envelope inside the cabinet with a tech sheet with testing tips/info. Similier to these here. Motor is often ohm meter tested, sometimes a visual inspection of the motor control board will show a burnt spot on the board. |

found the sheets, it talks about testing the motor by testing in probe #.... is this done with the washer motor on? or should there be current with the
unit plugged in?

did the test in step #3, where you check the voltage drop between pins 2 and 4. there was a reading of 1.2 to 1.4 volts but not the 120avc as outlined in the
sheet. is this voltage not enough? should it be 120?

did step #4 testing voltage drop between 6 and 4. the meter read 0. the steps say to "check temer contact 11 to 11a" how do you do this?
thanks |

found the sheets, it talks about testing the motor by testing in probe #.... is this done with the washer motor on? or should there be current with the unit plugged in?Ohm meter or continuity testing is down with the power off, like ohming the motor windings. Testing at the motor control board is done with the power on and machine set to run. did the test in step #3, where you check the voltage drop between pins 2 and 4. there was a reading of 1.2 to 1.4 volts but not the 120avc as outlined in the sheet. is this voltage not enough? should it be 120?120 would have been good. did step #4 testing voltage drop between 6 and 4. the meter read 0. the steps say to "check temer contact 11 to 11a" how do you do this?Timer contacts can be ohm meter tested for continuity ( no power ) or live ( with power - carefull! ) with power in one contact but no power out of the other contact. jeff. |

Normally no start cap or run cap on these.
