I'd like to purchase a front-load washer for under $750. What would you all recommend? Thanks.

Hi,
I don't know prices. This may help as well... http://www.epinions.com/Washing_Machines--reviews--front_loader A Whirlpool or Maytag ( we have a Maytag right now ) would be my personal choices. ABT AJMadison |

Hello revtape71, I am not an expert but I am a consumer and I have recently just repaired my own washer (thanks to appliguy) instead of buying a new one. The reason?
Because every washer (listed on sears.com) has some level of bad consumer feedback and many of the complaints are due to the washer(s) not working either right
after installation or breaking sometime during the first year. And I do mean every washer of every make had some level of negative feedback. Now, I am not
suggesting that you repair your old vs getting new; however, be prepared for the worst and hope for the best because these newer washer are basically junk (my
opinion) and very costly to maintain (via factory service calls).

I would agree with Gus. Stay simple. They all eventually break, and when you have a problem, it's nice to know it can be fixed with a $35 switch over a
$150 control board. And, if you're like me, you scout the curb for some similar machines and pick up some spare controls. This way when you have a problem,
you have the part you need right then and there, for a great price

I am going to throw in my 2ยข.
I own the GE WSSH300GWW for a year and a half. I am very pleased with it, and won't own a top loader after having this washer. This model of washer are known as "FridGEmore" washer. I have two other family members who has this and are pleased as well. I got this on sale for $499, then $100 in rebates from local utility company. So for $399, I can't save that kind of money on a top loader in energy use. With this washer, we've saved just over 11,000 gallons of water in a year, gas budget plan from $88, to $66 a month. With any front loaders, get the extended warranty. I think it's worth the extra $90 for a piece of mind for the next 5 years. Most important thing of all, is use laundry degerent that has "HE" on it. If you are going for the matching set on this model, the dryer is a bit smaller, then I'd suggest the Amana NFW7200TW , and the dryer is a full size.

I think it depends on who you are. Someone like Jeff can own any machine (because he can easily do all the repairs on it). I own a Chevy Cavalier which is
probably a zero on most Consumer Reports. However, it has been nothing but reliable for me, and the car is very easy to fix. It rides nice, doesn't cost me
a car payment (it's a 1989..lol) AND it gets close to 30 mpg.
