Leaks at the base of the door. I've seen the exploded diags. the tub gasket (wd0810012) appears to be what the door presses against, but doesn't
include the bottom section. Must I purchase the entire door liner (wd31x10014) to get the gasket at its base? Can I cheat and cut out a section of the tub
gasket and fit it into the door? Same gasket? I am suspecting the bottom gasket because it is more nasty looking. Started leaking after I wiped the gunk out
from underneath. That gunk was my seal apparently. Also - the floppy door - I need 2 new "spring hinge brown"? Or is it an adjustment? thanks again
for keeping my reliable dishwasher alive!

I could not find a part/part# for a seperate piece on the bottom of the door. Probably best to call GE and ask. I need 2 new "spring hinge brown"? Or is it an adjustment?Spring brown Most will have holes or slots to make some kind of adjustement. Can I cheat and cut out a section of the tub gasket and fit it into the door? Same gasket?I see no harm is trying, but I doubt it is the same. Haven't seen one myself to confrim or not confirm, sorry. Most now are a foam gasket for the door and more of a rubber gasket across the bottom. Sorry can't help more. |

I found an install sheet....shows some kind of an adjustement for the door springs...

Gonna buy a new one. Not satisfied that I can fix it even by buying the door liner and tub gasket ($200) Tub gasket end-plugs not on parts diag. Done.
NOW, I have a brief connection to get a new Whirlpool or Maytag at a great discount. Any opinion on any Whirlpools or Maytags? I read about a few candidates: Whirlpool GU3600, GU2700, GU2200. Maytag MDB8951, MDB8851, MDB7851. Maytags seem to run a bit pricier. I am interested in something the reviews aren't going to tell me - long term reliability. That GE ZBD5900 lasted 9 years. (Not a reason to throw out a product, but to KEEP one. Ya think?) |

Any opinion on any Whirlpools or Maytags?My personal pick would be Maytag. Nothing much built today is lasting more than 8-10 years!
