Kemore washer not spinning after rinse |
Lead | |
|
The washer will spin on it's own durning wash cycle, when it gets to rinse it won't go unless I give it an assist. If I spin it up to speed it will
take over and complete the rinse and spin cycle. I have replaced the pump and the motor coupler. Any ideas??

Hi,
Kenmore washerModel#? Kenmore is made by several different companies. http://www.applianceaid.com/model.html http://www.applianceaid.com/searscodes.html The washer will spin on it's own durning wash cycleNormally the washer shouldn't spin during the wash, it should agitate back and forth. when it gets to rinse it won't go unless I give it an assistAssist how? Pushing the basket by hand? I have replaced the pump and the motor coupler. To correct this problem? If I spin it up to speed it will take over and complete the rinse and spin cycleRince is to agitate without soap, you mean the final spin and drain will work? Will the drain still work without your assist? |

The washer spins and drains at the end of the wash cycle. Yes the assist is pushing the basket. It drains OK. The problem started with the clothes being wet
after spinning so i changed the pump, then it stopped spinning so I changed the coupler.

Yes the assist is pushing the basket. It drains OK. The problem started with the clothes being wet after spinningNormally clothes between the tanks, loose/worn drive block ( direct drive style only ) and weak clutch ( direct drive style only ) will give slow or poor spins. Can peek through the basket holes with a flash light to check for clothing, often the drive block gives a strange noise as well ( not mentioned you hear any ) so the clutch may be the prime suspect... ( direct drive style only ) - http://www.applianceaid.com/direct-nospin.html jeff. |

I bet it's the clutch. I have a direct drive model that was doing the same thing. I replaced the clutch today and it works great.

Also, the repair book I have says to separate the motor from the gearcase to do this. I did not do this, I removed the motor and gearcase as an assembly.
