Posts: 9 (07/03/09 12:02:41) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None Hi, it is model 110.87870100 natural gas kenmore dryer, the ignitor does not glow,therefore no burner. drum spins good. tried replaceing the ignitor with one I had no difference. tried bypassing the sensor in the tube the heat goes from burner to drum, by removing both wire and jumpering them. nothing,,,, the white rectanglar sensor on the exit side tried the same thing (out of desperation)nothing... the electro magnet gas valve did feel warm,but since the ignitor did not glow I ruled this out.... Please help .

Ohm the coils on the gas safety valve, if one opens up the glow coil ignitor may not work. tried replaceing the ignitor with one I had no difference. tried bypassing the sensor in the tube the heat goes from burner to drum, by removing both wire and jumpering them. nothing,,,, the white rectanglar sensor on the exit side tried the same thing (out of desperation)nothing... Those are the more common trouble makers....ignitor itself, flame sensor, thermal fuse.....other are the coils on the gas valve, motor heat switch, timer heat contact, temp switch ( not on all models ). 110.87870100 A Whirlpool built kenmore. " Could you tell me how to ohm them? I assume you are telling me to check for continuity. Posts: 6566 (07/03/09 16:41:12) Administrator Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	how do I test the flame sensor? tried bypassing the sensor in the tube the heat goes from burner to drum You already did...it is closed so the ignitor can come on and once heated enough from the ingitor the flame sensor opens up and redirects the power to the gas valve and whe n the flame ignites the flame holds the flame sensor open. Continuity when cool/cold and opens up when heated, can join the wires together as a test to see if the ignitor will come on. Could you tell me how to ohm them? I assume you are telling me to check for continuity. Yes, pull off wire plugs and test each coil ( one has two terminals and other has 3 ) and you should get continuity between the 2 terminals on one and all three on the other. I remove them to check? Nope, leave the burner in place, access and do the testing inside the dryer. jeff.
