hi my Kenmore / whirlpool ( model 665.75132300) oven works intermittantly . the oven will light and warm up then shut down and not restart till it cools off
enough. im thinking the temp sensor would do this. is this correct and what other parts might cause this. i found the ohm readings for the sensor and will
test it. if there are other causes where can i fing thoose testing proceedures thanks mike

Hi,
model 665.75132300A Whirlpool built kenmore, DSI style gas range. oven works intermittantly . the oven will light and warm up then shut down and not restart till it cools off enough. im thinking the temp sensor would do thisYes the oven temp sensor can do that, a copy: Measure sensor value (between connector pins) between 1000 Ω@ 32° F and 2697 Ω@ 900° F (room temperature approx. = 1080 Ω). Also measure from sensor connector to sensor casing for possible short. If measurement does not correlate to real temperature, or short is found, replace sensor. So can.... http://www.applianceaid.com/DSI_manual.pdf |

hello thank you for the quick reply . after testing the resistance of the temp sensor it seemed to be ok. then i tried running the broiler and the self
cleaning option both worked without interuption. in bake mode it still was shutting down, when i tried upping the temp and hitting start it wouldnt restart,
but when i canceled / cleared and then hit bake then start, the bake burner would restart for a few seconds then shut down i could do this over and over i
checked for voltage when this occurred at the j1 conector pin 4 and 6 and 4 and 10 and it seemed to hold voltage during shut down . i say seemed as my gauge
has been acting up so im not 100 % certain. i also checked resistance at the bake and broil solenoids and they were good.
any thoughts thanks mike |

Bake ignitor was sparking? No TEST PROCEDURE Voltage Tests Bake Function 1. Set the voltmeter to read 120 VAC. 2. Program the range for the Bake operation.
3. If the top burners spark, proceed to step 4. Touch the test leads to the J1 connector at terminals
4 (white) and 10 (black). The AC voltmeter should indicate 120 VAC. If not, check for the proper voltage at the power supply outlet, and check the main wiring
harness.
6. Touch the test leads to the J1 connector at terminals 1
(red) and 2 (orange). The DC voltmeter should indicate between 8 and 18 volts DC*. If not, replace the DSI control.

2 questions 1st If the top burners spark does this mean when i turn them on or on their own ? i assume when i turn them on ? 2nd question is if the voltages
are bad it says whats bad but if the voltages are good what is next? or one of those has to be bad? thanks again mike

If the top burners spark does this mean when i turn them on or on their own ? i assume when i turn them on ?Correct....you turning them on. if the voltages are bad it says whats bad but if the voltages are good what is next?*If* the checks ( valve solenoids, DSI, control/clock, wires, voltage ) come back ok, should leave the ignitor as being bad.....and the ignitor only comes complete with the burner. jeff. |
