I have a 10 year old KitchenAid model KUDM01TJWH1 dishwasher that habitually re-clogs at the chopper assembly. It started a couple years ago. It will run but prevents the dishes from getting clean. I disassemble the unit, remove the chopper assembly and it is clogged with what looks like lint and/or dog hair. I clean it off - the stuff is worked into the holes - reinstall it and the dishwasher works perfectly. Trouble is, in a couple of months is starts doing it again and I repeat the whole process. We have dogs in the house but the dishes are pretty much clean before I put them in the washer so I don't know where the lint is coming from. I bus the dishes really well before I put them in. A habit I developed from years in the restaurant industry.
The spring action on the chopper is still firm and doesn't appear to be slipping. Any ideas? Would a new chopper or check valve help? I have no idea how this stuff gets in there.
