G'day Smokey.
I hope you don't mind another post about the same problem but I just wanted to make sure the great advice you have been giving on this topic is relevant to my situation before calling the repairman as I am in Australia.
I have recently purchased a Samsung 29"/68cm 50Hz Flat CRT (CS29K10MQ) and am very pleased with the set.
My problem is much the same as the others on this topic in that I can hear a constant high pitched sound coming from the TV. The sound is exactly the same as I have heard from other CRT sets I have owned which have almost been inaudible however the sound coming from this set fills the room and is making my viewing unpleasant. It is at the stage where I am trying to keep my head still so as the sound does not change in levels hoping I'll get used to it.
This sound seems to get louder as the picture gets brighter. Especially when chancing between A/V and tuner when there is no picture.
My girlfriend does not seem too bothered by it so I am concerned the repairman will think it is not a big deal either but if I can relay some of this information to him maybe it would make a difference.
Do you think cold solder joints in the printed circuit board around the high voltage transformer is what may be causing the high pitched sound coming from my TV?
The set is under warranty so having a repairman come out to have a look at it should be cost free so I would take that option and arm him with your advice should this be the case rather than tinkering around inside the set myself.
Thank you for your time Smokey.
Dave Marshall.
